This page lists the publicly available articles of the series Designing Isometric Avatars. This series is a work in progress: more comprehensive documents will be added.

By the end of this serie's 3 articles you should be able to design walking avatars yourself, like the one shown in the animated GIF image to the left. Well, better actually, if you are an artist – which I am not.
The series begins with an introduction and the setup of a frameweork, which you are encouraged to adapt to your specific needs.
In the second part a static avatar is developed step by step, using the defined framework, and the third part eventually sets our avatar in motion.
It is suggested to work through the articles in the given order: later articles require knowledge of the former, and several references are made to those.
Introduction to Isometric Avatars: The principal differences between 3D, 2D and isometric design are outlined, and a guide to set up a framework for own experiments is presented.
Components of Isometric Avatars: Explains step by step how to design realistically looking isometric avatars, including a large variety of garment.
Walking Isometric Avatars: The avatar learns to walk. Prepare yourself a big pot of coffee before going into this: due to its size, the article needed to be split into 4 parts.A fourth article is in preparation.
